We toured with Commonwealth at Goergian Manor and found the rooms to be very small, dark and crowded. There was also no storage space. That is why we did not choose this facility.

The reason why we chose Commonwealth Senior Living was because the community itself is very light, bright and clean. The staff members have been great. A few times when we have been there during the meals it seems to be pretty good. On the memory care side the activities are somewhat limited but based on our overall experience with Commonwealth we would definitely recommend this community to other families.

Commonwealth Senior Living, like everyone else, is somewhat understaffed. There's a labor shortage, so I understand that they can't help that. I like that the staff have been together for a long time, so they know each other well. It feels like there may not be that much turnover. I like that they are experienced and have worked with each other for awhile. The staff have been very friendly. And they communicate well with us. The apartment is great. Mom was fortunate enough to get one of the larger ones, so it's a nice size, with a large bathroom and two closets. She has enjoyed socializing and playing cards and games with the other residents.

This community was dated in appearance and not the type of environment my loved one was looking for. The tour was basic and I was able to get all of the information that I needed.

After determining that my mother could no longer be able to live on her own, we started looking for assisted care facilities in Chesapeake Virginia. We were looking for a place that we could transition into additional services when needed and one that my mother would feel at home when in her own room. They were great. The staff were very caring and helpful, from the clinical staff to the administration. The care my loved one received was great. She had a relatively short stay here, and move-in and move-out all went smoothly.
We toured Commonwealth Senior Living and we did not choose this facility because it had too much of a nursing home feel to it.
