Our check-in experience was smooth and the overall stay was pleasant, but a few issues arose that warrant mentioning. We arrived around 6 PM, after the scheduled 4 PM check-in, only to be informed of a planned power outage that evening from 9 PM to 10 PM and again early Tuesday morning from 5 AM to 6 AM. While a one-hour outage seemed manageable, it affected the entire block, not just the hotel. The hotel did offer complimentary wine as an apology for the late notice, which was a nice gesture. Our stay at Casa Munras was good. I feel like the description of the property wasn’t completely accurate, it’s more of a nicer motel than a hotel. It was clean and comfortable in a very walkable location in Monterey. My one complaint was that we were charged $18 dollars per night for parking. This was disappointing because I feel like this wasn’t in the property description when we booked our stay, but it’s understandable given the limited parking in the area. I love staying in this hotel whenever I’m in town. The beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever stayed in. They keep the pool heated year-round and it’s walking distance from the downtown scene. This is a great property extremely comfortable.

I expected so much more with all the great reviews. It is just an okay place to stay. Affordable? Yes. Rooms are not the same as the online photos. We reserved the Deluxe King with the fireplace. The room is not very big, and the fireplace is tiny, but it does produce a lot of heat. I do not think we got the deluxe room.

We will be back. The location is good, with everything fairly close by. The grounds and room exteriors are so charming. The room interiors were somewhat dated but clean and tastefully decorated. Our dinner at Esteban was amazing. They have beautiful patio, but it was a little chilly the night we were there. I'm looking forward to patio dining on our next visit. The spa ambiance was nice and relaxing. The service - specifically my deep tissue massage from Alma - was fantastic!
