I don't find this credit union to be student-friendly at all. The "University" title implies that it would be easy for undergraduate and graduate students alike to obtain credit or take out a loan, but it's simply not true. This credit union let me down whereas Wescom Credit Union offered me great services at low interest rates and excellent customer service. It took 3 minutes to close my UCU accounts, and there was no hint at all that the customer service cared about my patronage.
Worst customer service I've ever received. Their website is ancient. Good luck transferring funds, being given accurate information regarding your account and getting any assistance from the staff/managers. They pass the responsibility on to the next rep, and should you get a manager, they just ignore your ticket submissions, emails and calls, even if the reason you're calling is to be reimbursed for money they cost you. It's an offensive joke. Couldn't recommend less!
Sadly, this used to be a great and reliable place to bank. This week alone, after their "online update", we've had to call four times in as many days, and in this latest catastrophe they paid the wrong credit card via their e-bill interface. So we'll be moving on to another institution. We simply can't trust them to manage our money anymore.
So sad that the UCU has started imposing all kinds of fees and penalties. I'm now treated as badly by UCU as I was at the major commercial bank where I had an account.
I've been a member for decades now and have always thought they were great. But all of a sudden they are charging $10/mo for a checking account, even though my combined account balances are a fairly noticeable amount of money. I guess they've become just like any old bank now. Time to start shopping for a new place to park my money.
