When we began researching memory care options for my Mom, we looked at multiple facilities. My Mom felt more comfortable in a smaller facility, like Commonwealth Assisted Living at Abingdon. My sister and her husband, a Baptist minister, were in when we had the appointment to bring Mom up to Commonwealth. Mom felt so comfortable with Sweet Memories and thought the place was beautiful. The commonwealth was the best but we had issues. They did not make sure mom took her medicine and she would become aggressive and agitated. The medicine was critical for her behavior. All facilities like that only want patients who are calm and are easy to watch over. Good luck. I'm not just speculating about her meds. We have the ER records and records from commonwealth to prove they failed to get her medication in her. The facility was great and staff was great. The management at this facility leaves much to be desired. The workers appear to answer to no one. The food is terrible and unless your loved one is able to pretty much take care of them self I would not recommend this facility.
