The care services get a 5 but only because Mom had wonderful care from Hospice of VA (3, if only facility staff). Many activities were offered but Mom did not participate in many. I think that more staff should be hired with nursing degrees. To many of the CNA's, it was just a job. Maybe pay should be more in order to get more qualified staff. I will say that the administrator, [name removed], was great!! She addressed any issues I had!

My loved one was previously a resident at Commonwealth Senior Living at Kilmarnock and the overall experience was good for her. The move in process went well. The staff and the quality of the meals were both good. The housekeeping was okay, they could use more help. Overall, I would recommend Commonwealth at Kilmarnock to others.
When my father passed, the way Commonwealth Senior Living dealt with us was disappointing. I as there the next day to remove his belongings, and it wasn't what I was expecting. With our experience it would be hard to recommend to other families.

They were very friendly and welcoming. The facility was always clean. Staff extremely friendly. Staff knowledgeable and helpful. The food seemed good. Activities offered were good. Overall value for the money was very good
I would tell others that if you are considering Commonwealth in Kilmarnock for your loved one, I would go on a day that they plan the tour but then also go on a day they are not expecting you. Go through the dining room and talk to the other residents who live here - that would be my biggest piece of advice. We chose Commonwealth because they were the best that we were able to find in the area and they are also a veteran oriented facility. I do think it is a good facility, but unfortunately dad was not here long enough to get acclimated.

While the Sales and Marketing Director was most welcoming and very knowledgeable, we did not feel the accommodations were adequate for both parents. Otherwise, it seemed a very well organized and caring community.
I would have to say that I think that they should have a better variety of activities for the residents. My mother in law does like to play Bingo. This community is always clean and doesn't have a smell. However, there communication is not good they don't follow up.
Before I retired seven years ago, I was in healthcare administration in the Kilmarnock community, and Commonwealth has always had a good reputation. I did look into several agencies, and came in to take the tour at Commonwealth and liked what I saw. It was very clean, and there was a home atmosphere about it that I liked very much.
