Highly recommend. This motel is a little long in the tooth but is very clean. Good location on the more quiet side of the island. Nice bar/liquor store with live music on premises. The rooms and bathrooms are on the small side being an older property......would not be good if you are a larger person. Breakfast is provided with several food and drink options. The employees are very friendly and helpful. Two pools that were never busy during our stay (June). Plenty of parking if you have a car.
We arrived in Key West early in the morning and stopped by the hotel to ask if we could park our car while we explored the area before check-in. The front desk staff was incredibly accommodating—not only did she allow us to park, but she also checked us in early at no extra charge, upgraded us to a king room, and even offered us breakfast. The hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Everything about our stay was perfect. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Key West!
If you're looking for a posh resort hotel, this is probably not for you. But if you're looking for a relatively clean and well-maintained older hotel in an amazing location for a reasonable price then this place is for you. It's not fancy or swanky but is one block from Duval Street and a couple of blocks from the southernmost point landmark. It is in the heart of the southernmost district. This was a last minute night stay in Key West. The staff was very friendly and the pools were nice and warm! The motels were almost like little bungalow rooms. The only complaint we had was the walk to our room from the check-in office with all of our luggage. The inside was decorated nicely, and the beds were comfortable still had a little bit of a motel feel, but definitely was with some luxuries. Can't say enough great things about Southwinds Motel. What a refreshing surprise to check into this motel to find a spotless room, decoratively folded towels, toilet paper, tissue, etc all showing great pride in the place. Hugh compliments to the housekeeping staff. The Front desk was staffed by friendly, helpful, and compassionate people. Great job.
