I recently stayed at the Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Portland, and I can say without a doubt it was the single worst hotel experience I have ever had. If I could give it zero stars, I would. The problems started the moment I stepped into the lobby, which was overpowered by the distinct smell of cigarette smoke. Solid 8.5. Price was good, location is easy access to tourist spots. Cool pool, adequate fitness center. Really good restaurant for breakfast and lunch on site. Bonus was a great nightclub connected to the hotel. A must for a couple of drinks. Live music and the decor was amazing.

The location is a 20 minute drive from Portland and seems to be safe. Our room was outdated but clean, however our shower was broken and when we asked the woman at the front desk for help, she was extremely disrespectful with no remorse for the situation. After being told there was no maintenance worker to help us, we received a new room. We were expected to lug all of our luggage up 2 floors in the middle of the night after already being fully unpacked in our original room. Julie and I were really pleased with the Ramada Inn in Portland. The facility was very clean, fresh looking and staff very helpful and friendly. Our room was immaculate and spacious, with a very comfortable bed and contemporary decor. We didn't have a chance to use the pool and hot tub, our regret. Also just 15 minutes from downtown with some great restaurants. Honestly, at its price point couldn't have been more pleased.

We booked this hotel a few weeks in advance. We chose it because we were traveling with 2 medium dogs and it's a pet-friendly hotel with a modest, refundable pet fee. We had to wait 20 minutes after normal check-in time because they didnt have the room we wanted ready, but they were polite, apologetic, and did offer to move us to a different room if we didn't mind.
