The staff are always very helpful and positive even during late night. They are responsive with our needs. The room is clean and has no bad smell. Definitely worth the price. Parking is also free.

The room we stayed in smelled funky and the linens on one of the queen beds appeared and smelled like it had been used by several people and hadn’t been washed. The room keys provided didn’t work for the duration of our stay and had to be reset each time we needed access to the room. Staff were less than friendly each time we had to request a reset. Breakfast consisted of a bowl of hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, stale bread, and prepackaged “pastries”. The only redeeming quality about this place was the proximity to lots of rest... read more

I am writing this review because the great customer service I received from the lady at front desk. When I arrived, because I was traveling by myself, I never stayed at this property before, she let me view one of the rooms before assigning the room to me, and she was very courteous and kind to accommodate me! The hotel is very close to San Diego State University, very convenient location, had a great night sleep, and I was on my way the very next day.

I was going to give them a 5 star rating with a comment saying I would stay here again, because rooms are nice and clean, until I realized I forgot my ring in my room. I sent them a picture, I called over 5 times, and “housekeeping didn’t find it”. Oh please I know exactly where I left my ring, I described it perfectly. I guess that’s why they call it housekeeping, because the house kept it. Not an honest business so I will never stay here again, nor would I recommend you to.

My one night stay at the Lamplighter Inn for a workshop event in San Diego was an absolute delight. Everyone was super friendly, the pool area was clean and inviting, and my room was super cozy and clean. I also really appreciate that they don't keep the AC running in between guest stays -- thank you for looking out for our planet :)
