This hotel is not worth the price. It markets itself as a historic hotel, but it is anything but that. The building itself is partially renovated in a tacky way, and the remainder is run down. The elevator is old and smells. Historic details in the lobby are not as they appear in photos. There is a fake fireplace and cheap furniture. None of that in itself is disqualifying, but it does not create an atmosphere of a historic hotel. Worse, the hotel is not run like a professional business of what one would expect from a moder... read more
Excellent stay. We were warmly welcomed and check is was a breeze. Parking is at a parking garage about a block away. We were given excellent (printed) directions and a parking card, which we returned at the end of our stay. The room was of average size, very comfortable and clean. The room was cold when we arrived, but we were able to warm it up without issues. Very quiet. Lots of friendly amenities in the lobby, coffee, cookies, a nice warm fire. Very nice and cozy hotel conveniently located in the Old District of Philadelphia. Zero complaints here, everything was clean and comfortable! We slept very well and the ambiance of the room was so nice that we enjoyed spending time just sitting inside (and away from the cold) in the evenings without necessarily wanting to go elsewhere. From 4-6 daily there was a cookie bar with hot chocolate, perfect for someone with a sweet tooth like me. The breakfast is included and I would say it’s just okay.
I absolutely loved this place. The rooms were spotless and beautiful and spacious. There were only 40 rooms so you’re not overwhelmed with large crowds of guests. The location, for visiting historic downtown, is ideal. 24 hour manned front desk and beautiful lobby seating area with fireplace. The staff were so pleasant and accommodating. Hotel partners with an indoor parking lot, which is a little over a block away and can be charged to your room, with unlimited in/out, 10 minute loading/unloading area in front of hotel. ... read more
I used to live in Old City for many years and now come back monthly to visit. This is the only place I stay. Small boutique hotel with clean rooms and great service. Excellent breakfast in the morning. No bar. No banquet rooms. No conferences. No weddings. If you’re looking for a quiet place to sleep that is in the heart of the historic district, this is the place.
