This classic hotel has been modernized, but still has many great decorative features inside. I was welcomed by staff with a glass of sparking wine and the personnel were great. The rooms were good sized and clean. The bedding was comfortable and the bathroom with walk in shower was good sized. I have only two complaints: 1) the room lighting was dim (one over-door light, small desk lamp, and bed lamps). What a lovely hotel this is, right in the heart of EP downtown. We had an overnight here on a recent road trip, specifically selecting due to them being big dog friendly. From the moment we pulled up we found the staff here to be so warm and welcoming... Valet team, front desk and housekeeping! We had a nice large room on the 16th floor and it gave us a view across the downtown area. The room was clean, comfortable with great sleep quality. Location is great! Views from the rooftop are great but that’s about it. Service was horrible not accommodating at all. Couldn’t get the room phone to work the entire time. Kept being bounced back and forth between room service and operator just to get syrup had to go down to get it ourselves eventually. Leaking shower the entire time made a mess in the bathroom. Everything from the front desk staff to the bartenders and cooks at the rooftop bar was more than exceptional!!! We were spending a staycation for my 45th birthday at the hotel. The lady at the front desk made us feel very special with chocolates and champagne. We placed a breakfast order to be delivered to the room, and the server who brought it up was super nice as well. Hands down one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived at Hotel Paso Del Norte, I was treated like a VIP. Every single staff member I interacted with was professional, welcoming, and genuinely went out of their way to make the stay great. The hotel itself is impressive all the way through.
