We were booked at Rm 322 and was given a sensor key when in-fact our door doesn’t have one and had to go back down and asked about the key and was given the right set. Also as soon as I opened the door (which was hard to open) smelled musty. Mostly the room was nicely designed and saw that they did renovations with the room but then the fridge cabinet door was off alignment and the inside wasn’t painted anew so you would see dirt marks on it. Great location, our room was large and well appointed, with the exception of an inability to charge my phone & watch next to my side of the bed. Only the other side had charger plugs available. A minor inconvenience. It is a lovely Spanish-style hotel. It is very walkable to the old wharf for restaurants, whale watching, and downtown. The complimentary hot breakfast was delicious. Our room, consisting of two queens, was very spacious! The bathroom had a large vanity, a bathtub/shower combo, and a separate shower in a closed-off space with the toilet. I had a fantastic experience at Hotel Pacific during the Big Sur International Marathon weekend. The location is perfect - just behind the convention center so super-close to all the activities, but away from the crowds. My room was so peaceful and even had a fireplace! The staff was warm and welcoming. Most amazingly, they had coffee, bagels, peanut butter and bananas out at 2:30 am on marathon race day! Comfortable bed but very small lumpy pillows and black long hair in the sheets. Bad patch jobs through the room. Exposed wires in the ceiling lights. You could hear every foot step if you have people above you. The whole property could use a power wash on all the floors.
