The "DUMP" of the Pearl District! I spend 100+ nights per year in all levels of hotels and maintain diamond status. We're middle aged, not high maintenance and travel to Portland at least 6 times per year. However negative, this review is honest. The lobby/reception is just a desk next to the front door. Room was not ready at 4:00 when we called ahead of time confirming it would be. Was finally checked-in at 4:35; told nothing about the property nor was my diamond status acknowledged. Stayed here to experience the Woodenshoe Tulip farm as it was the last weekend. This hotel is in the Pearl District centrally located to everything downtown and a good 10-15 minute walk to most stores. Area has lots of bars and restaurants 5 minute walk away. Checkin was quick and efficient. Rooms are spacious and clean. Noise level wasn’t loud and we slept soundly. Staff were great and amazing. The area isn't great, but it's downtown. Ive stayed at the Benson, Hampton, and Canopy so far and this is my choice of the 3. With that being said it's not what pictures make it out to be online. Ive learned to not get my hopes up in Portland. Almost feels like a scam how they're portrayed online vs in person, but this was better than the others. A perfect example of this: loby looks and smells welcoming; room levels are dingey with dirty carpet that needed washed 2 years ago.

Stayed May 23–25 (Room K1-601) and this was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. Valet was the only parking option and repeatedly failed to respond to calls and messages. Despite AMEX early check-in eligibility, I waited 60+ minutes in the lobby and the room still wasn't ready past 4 PM. The room itself had broken AC (offered a fan as a solution), a broken shower, and a cracked mirror with exposed glass — a genuine safety hazard. I am in utter shock by how the food is handled - I personally witnessed the chef touch rags he used to clean the floor WHILE he was preparing food and grab the garbage can to move it with his bare hands. Fine I thought, he’ll wash them. Did he - absolutely not. He proceeded to grab cheese to make a bagel sandwich. When I brought this to the attention of the staff they were very nice so this review does not reflect their level of service at all.
