Five star experience! We are Best Western Rewards Members and I have never been treated so well! My front desk experience was outstanding. I was upgraded upon arrival (without asking) and accommodated when I needed to extend my stay. Valet parking was great and the attendant was always quick and so very courteous. Breakfast at Mei's was lovely and the coupon at check-in was very appreciated. The bakery was also helpful when we needed a quick snack a couple of times. Amazing location, right on Michigan Ave in Chicago, very accessible to transportation. A little bit noisy from the street but not that much. The walls are not thin in the rooms which is great. Staff are helpful and kind. The best thing about it is that Paris Baguette was right downstairs. This is the BEST place to have pastries, coffee and breakfast generally. Definitely one of the biggest advantages of Grant Park Hotel. Overall, I had a great experience.
Great location for tourist. Museums, Pier, parks, shopping all are walkable or a short uber trip. Valet parking flat rate. The staff is helpful and friendly. There is a cafe/bakery on the main floor- was delicious. The 2 property disappointments are none of the 3 ice machines were operating and the shower in the room left a puddle of water. In-room microwaves are requested. Upon arrival, I discovered a partially consumed bottle of water in the room, raising a minor concern regarding the thoroughness of housekeeping. Despite this, my stay was otherwise exceptional. The hotel's location was ideal, as evidenced by my participation in a 5k run in Grant Park.
I know it might be cheaper than other hotels, but I strongly recommend not staying there. The rooms are very uncomfortable and clearly in need of major renovations. The beds are old, not supportive, and the bedding is of poor quality. The heating and A/C system is extremely outdated and so loud that it makes it hard to sleep. But if you turn it off, the room becomes freezing—especially with the cold weather in Chicago.
